The Diverters' Foundation is proud to host annual Coffee Cup Revolutions in partnership with Vancouver's Binners' Project!
WHAT IS THE COFFEE CUP REVOLUTION?
Following in the footsteps of Binners’ Project, who have successfully hosted a Coffee Cup Revolution in Vancouver for the past six years, the Diverters’ Foundation hosts a one-day pop-up depot for coffee cups.
At the pop-up depot, Diverters and members of the community will receive a refund of 10 cents for each cup returned.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE COFFEE CUP REVOLUTION?
This event aims to raise awareness about the lack of a permanent refund on disposable coffee cups in BC. Each day, thousands of cups are disposed of in the garbage instead of being recycled.
Coffee Cup Revolutions in Victoria and Vancouver aim to demonstrate the need for a refund to promote recycling of coffee cups, and ultimately diverting them from the landfill. This work will keep trash off our city streets and create a new revenue stream for Diverters.

HOW DOES THE POP-UP DEPOT WORK?
Everyone looking for a refund will line up and proceed to one of our processing tables. We ask that people divide their cups in stacks of 50 cups for counting purposes. To ensure everyone receives a refund, we are limiting each refund to a maximum of 400 cups (that's $40!!). If you have more cups, you can go to the back of the line and get another refund.
WHAT IS THE COVID-19 SAFETY PLAN FOR THE EVENT?
With the safety of our Diverters and members of the community being a priority, masks will be mandatory for the event, and we will ask everyone to social distance in the pop-up depot line up. If you don't have a mask, don't worry, we will have disposable masks on site for you.
We also have backup plans in place if pandemic restrictions change closer to the event. We will be doing our best to prevent the cancellation of the Coffee Cup Revolution due to COVID-19, acknowledging the time Diverters will spend on collecting disposable cups leading up the event.
